A Taylor ‘Swiftposium’ will be held in Australia next year

A group of Australian and New Zealand universities have come together to develop a world-first Taylor ‘Swiftposium’.

Thewill bring together academic experts to analyse the cultural and economic impact of Taylor Swift.

The event will conclude days before the Melbourne leg of the singer-songwriter’s sold out ‘Eras’ tour in February.

Context

A symposium is a conference where experts gather to discuss a particular topic.

The purpose of the Taylor ‘Swiftposium’ is for scholars to “engage in critical dialogue about Swift’s popularity and its profound implications”.

Taylor ‘Swiftposium’

The event is a collaboration by seven universities across Australia and New Zealand.

The University of Melbourne will host the conference from 11-13 February. Speakers from the Asia-Pacific region can present remotely.
