North Queensland flood conditions persist after two weeks

Flood warnings remain in place across parts of North Queensland, with more rain expected after nearly two weeks of severe weather.

Flooding and landslides have forced major highway closures, delaying authorities from delivering essential supplies.

Around 250 homes in northern Queensland remain without power following severe rainfall and flooding.

Outages

Qld’s state-owned power company said that by Monday night, power had been restored to 99% of homes “impacted by severe weather”.

Ergon Energy said road closures and floodwaters had impacted plans to restore power in the remaining 1%.

“There’s no restoration option that hasn’t been considered… we are exploring every possible way to safely restore power,” the company said.
