A former Brisbane doctor has been charged with 94 counts of rape and 54 counts of sexual assault.
Police on Tuesday arrested and charged the 74-year-old man over the alleged assaults of 15 women during his time working as a GP between the early 2000s and 2015.
Detective Senior Sergeant Denis Silk described the allegations as a “deplorable violation of trust”.
Media outlets have identified the man as Stellios (Stan) Theodoros, who is already facing separate misconduct investigations.
Investigation
Last year, the ABC reported that Theodoros was being investigated by Queensland’s Office of the Health Ombudsman (OHO).
Former patients told the outlet that Theodoros allegedly performed breast checks and pap smears when they were not medically necessary, and in one case allegedly kissed a patient on the lips.
According to the report, investigators found he failed to maintain adequate records and appropriate professional boundaries.

Theodoros was arrested and charged with 148 sexual offences allegedly committed against 15 women aged from their late teens to early 40s.
The charges relate to allegations spanning from the early 2000s to 2015, when Theodoros was practising as a GP at a private health centre in the suburb of Tarragindi.
Sergeant Silk said: “Investigators are committed to pursuing every avenue to seek justice for the victim-survivors.”
Theodoros is due to face court next month.
