Nick Reiner has pleaded not guilty to the double murder of his parents, Hollywood director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner.

The couple’s 32-year-old son was arrested soon after their bodies were found in their Los Angeles home in December.

On Monday (LA time), local media reported Nick Reiner had appeared in court, with his lawyer submitting a not guilty plea to two counts of first-degree murder.

The Reiners

Rob Reiner was a director whose films included ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, The Princess Bride,’ ‘Misery’, and ‘A Few Good Men’.

He was also known for his political activism and support for Democrats.

Rob married photographer, actress and producer Michele Singer in 1989, who he met while he was directing the rom-com ‘When Harry Met Sally...’.

Together, they had three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy. Nick had talked publicly about his addiction to drugs in the past.

Alleged crime

The Reiners were found dead in their LA home on 13 December.

Nick Reiner was arrested, and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder with “special circumstances”.

This elevates the murder to a more serious charge, and means prosecutors decide if the death penalty can be used.

Prosecutors have not determined whether the death penalty will be considered if Reiner is found guilty. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
