Over 100 people have died in a stampede in Hathras, northern India.
Thousands of people were caught up by overcrowding after a Hindu gathering in Uttar Pradesh,most populous state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi hasemergency relief payments for those impacted by the stampede. This includes funding for injured attendees, and payments for families of those who died.

Thousands of people were caught up in the stampede and many were injured after attending ‘satsang’, a Hindu gathering for prayers and discussion, in Hathras, India.
The gathering was held by popular religious figure Bhole Baba. He is a formerofficial who has gained a significant following in recent years.
According to authorities in Uttar Pradesh, surges of crowds were rushing to meet Baba following the religious event when many people were crushed.
It’s been reported that most of the deaths were women.
