From 1 January 2026, the Victorian Government will make public transport free for under 18s.
Children will travel with a ‘youth myki’, which will allow them to travel for free.
The youth myki will function the same way as a normal myki card, and will stay valid until the child turns 18.

The free travel will be available on all forms of Victorian public transport, including trams, trains, buses and coach services in metro, regional and rural areas.
It follows similar moves by other state governments, including Queensland, which has made public transport 50c per trip.
