18-year-old Melburnian Bianca Adler has made history as the youngest Australian to climb Mount Everest.
In a statement on Instagram, she wrote: “On the summit and climbing up, I felt amazing, but coming down is tough.”
It is her second time climbing Everest, but her first time reaching the summit.
Adler is currently continuing her descent down the mountain.
Mt Everest
Everest is the world’s tallest mountain, at 8,849 metres high. Located in Nepal’s Himalayas, it sits around 250 metres above the region’s next tallest peak.
Mount Everest is also referred to as Chomolungma in Tibet, or Sagarmāthā in Nepali.

It takes the average climber two months to reach the peak of Everest.
Adler
Adler summited Mount Everest on Wednesday.
She is currently resting at base camp two (a high altitude rest stop) and will continue her descent to the base of the mountain.
It marks the second time Adler has been to Everest. Last year, she turned around 400 metres short of the summit due to safety concerns.
Before Adler, in 2022, then 19-year-old Melburnian Gabby Kanizay was the youngest Australian to reach the mountain’s summit.
