At least seven people have been killed in a shooting at a Jehovah’s Witness centre in the city of Hamburg in Germany, according to local reports.

A public alert was sent out on Thursday evening (local time) in Germany following reports of the shooting. Many people have also been seriously injured in the attack.

The perpetrator of the attack is believed to be dead. It’s unknown how many perpetrators there were.

Hamburg is Germany’s second-largest city and is located about 300 kilometres northwest of the nation’s capital, Berlin.

People have been told to stay away from the affected area (which has been cordoned off by police). Those in close proximity to the attack have been asked to stay indoors or take shelter immediately.

Local police have said there’s no confirmed motive for the attack.
