U.S. State Department announces switch to Times New Roman

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has ordered his department to change the font it uses on official documents.

According to a memo reported by The New York Times, Rubio has directed the State Department to use Times New Roman in its official documents.

The Biden administration changed the official font to Calibri in 2023 as an accessibility measure, following a recommendation by the State Department’s diversity and inclusion office.

A spokesperson called Times New Roman “more formal and professional”.
