The storm made landfall on Monday morning, days after Typhoon Kalmaegi killed more than 200 people in the region.

Around 30 million people are expected to be impacted by the extreme weather over the coming days.

Typhoon Kalmaegi

Kalmaegi brought destructive conditions to coastal regions last week, including torrential rain, high swells, and wind gusts of up to 220 km/hr.

Up to two million people in the Philippines were impacted by the storm, and hundreds of thousands of residents were displaced.

International media report different death tolls, with the storm believed to have killed as many as 224 people in the Philippines.

The typhoon also made landfall on Vietnam’s coast, killing five people.

Typhoon Fung-wong

Super Typhoon Fung-wong, also referred to as Uwan, made landfall on the Philippines’ north-east coast on Monday. It struck the country’s most populated island, Luzon.

Fung-wong brought winds of 185 km/hr and record rainfall to the region, causing flooding and landslides.

About one million people were evacuated from their homes ahead of it hitting. So far, the storm is believed to have killed two people.
