NSW Police charged 569 people across four days in a sweep “targeting domestic and family violence.”

More than 1,100 charges were laid, including over 400 breaches of bail and apprehended domestic violence orders (ADVOs).

A police spokesperson said the operation targeted “high-risk offenders who pose a significant threat to victims, family members, and other members of the community”.

Operation

Over the last two years, NSW Police has held nine state-wide operations targeting alleged domestic violence offenders.

At the latest operation last weekend, police across the state carried out nearly 300 arrest warrants.

Dozens of weapons and firearms were confiscated from people legally prohibited from possessing them.

Response

NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley said: “Those who choose to commit these violent acts should be prepared for a knock on their door and to face the consequences.”

In a statement to TDA, Shadow Police Minister Paul Toole thanked police and said it was “important” the operation was state-wide.

“Half of the domestic violence related assaults in NSW occur outside of metro areas,” Toole said.
